What is an AID?

We have never made a drawing in 3D CAD. What we make are AIDs (Associated Information Documents). That was the selling point in the introduction of 3D CAD: Faster Documentation. The Boeing draftsmen called these the "Flat File". But with the introduction of surfaces and solids the model now provided a pattern for manufacturing, hence the moniker "AID" that now traveled with the model.

The Death of the Drawing

IronCAD is the only package that includes a standalone electronic drafting package. CAXA draft is a Autocad clone and can be used to create drawings and also be used to create AIDs as shown in the video.
