Savings??
Wow.. that's
some real
money.
Let's take a look at the first package.
Who knew Solidworks was priced this high?
Engineer Bundle - $13,657.00
Without the discount that's a whopping
$22,353.00! What is it made out of gold??
Senior Engineer Bundle - $23,568.00
(What does this guy have? A couple more
years experience?)
Okay,
okay I am sure you can add... $39,128.00
Elite Bundle -
$55,682.00
(Crikey
mate!! Heck, you can't even drive it around to show it off!!!)
No
one could afford this guy!!
Holy smokes!!!
$98,431.00
You know your are getting very close to
Creo, NX and Catia???
What do they
think you have?? More money than Brains???
What's the ROI??
20 years??
Can you imagine the sucker that paid retail??
Okay, let's say it is a good deal..
but the maintenance goes on forever.
Hell I can sell you a
better package for less than the cost of the maintenance.
ZW3D doesn't have a maintenance
program, upgrade when you are ready. Go ahead try and upgrade an
older Solidworks!! IronCAD and ZW3D have set upgrade price no matter what
version you have.
Don't you get sick of these CAD companies
taking advantage of you, just because they know you are stuck with
their system?? How about Autodesk's, PCC's and now I think even
Siemen's arrogance of subscription only.
Well you are not stuck!! Both ZW3D and IronCAD have native
translators for all of the popular programs.
Need Simulation or Analysis?
We have options for
simulation, analysis, mold design, CNC, etc. Many of the options
are professions in their own right. What single engineer would need
all these applications? I have to say there is very few engineers
that would even use these features!! Does and analysis engineer have
to be a Solidworks expert? The poor engineer now has to be a design
engineer, analysis engineer, a draftsman, a data manager, etc.
I will tell you management is out of touch on the expectations of
what the engineer should know.
Engineering Yesterday & Today Engineer's Job Description
The Search for the Purple Squirrel
There are specialty software
packages for any of these professions that may be reasonably priced
and available to the complete engineering staff through a network
license. I can see an engineer needing access to some of this
functionality. If needed it should be available as a separate
focused option. I am sure there are package that can do evaluations.
In the past we had specialty engineers that would work
concurrently with the lead engineer, design engineer and draftsman.
Can you imagine the work flow required to have a viable ROI with the
Solidworks Elite? Solidworks shows that they are incredibly out of
touch with the engineering process.
Solidworks Totally Misunderstands MBD
Engineering Ignorance Defined
It may be time to look at
other more cost effective options from those that are not so
large that they still have a finger on the industry and reality.
